A Novel Waveguide Structure for Polarization Insensitive AWGs

Abstract

We developed a novel waveguide structure to realize polarization-insensitive AWGs. The waveguides involve a cap layer on top of the cores. Experimental and modeling results show that PDW of AWGs can be minimized (<0.01nm) by adjusting the cap thickness.
