Abstract

Given the rapid growth of bandwidth demands, carriers must provide a flexible, data-optimized network infrastructure. Transparent WDM metro networks address the dynamic nature of data traffic originating in metropolitan areas and have the potential for lower cost and higher flexibility in comparison with their competing counterparts.1
