Abstract

Wavelength-selectable light sources (WSLs) are key components in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical transmission systems.1–6 These devices will be cost-effective stand-by sources for restoring failed channels and will reduce transmitter inventory costs. In future photonic network systems, they could also be useful for reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (OADM) nodes and optical cross-connect (OXC) nodes for wavelength routing.
