Active Semiconductor Microdisk Switching Devices Utilizing Gain and Electroabsorption Effects

Abstract

Active semiconductor microdisk switching devices have been demonstrated for the first time, utilizing gain and electroabsorption trimming of the transmission characteristics. The devices exhibit high-Q operation (Q>5000), high finess (F~40) and high power extraction efficiency.
