A 70 nm wide S-band amplifier by cascading TDFA and Raman fibre amplifier

Abstract

A hybrid amplifier designed for short wavelength amplification is reported by cascading a Thulium doped fluoride fibre with a discrete Raman amplifier. Gain >20 dB for a bandwidth 1445 – 1520 nm was achieved.
