Detailed experimental characterization of the chirp properties of an SOA-MZI wavelength converter

Abstract

The chirp properties for an SOA-MZI wavelength converter are characterized based on measurements of the α−parameter. Results for three optical modulators with quite different chirp properties demonstrate that the chirp of the converted signal is essentially independent of the chirp of the input signal.
