Transmission of 1550nm 10Gb/s directly modulated signal over 100km of negative dispersion fiber without any dispersion compensation

Abstract

We demonstrate the largest transmission distance (100km) ever reported for a 10Gb/s 1.55µm directly modulated signal over a single fiber link without using any dispersion compensation. The fiber is optimised for operation with directly modulated lasers and has negative dispersion.
