Performance Optimization of Chirped Return-to-Zero Format in 10-Gb/s Terrestrial Transmission Systems

Abstract

The performance of the chirped return-to-zero format varies significantly with slight changes in the link dispersion. Penalty reduction from more than 8 dB to 3 dB has been demonstrated by either adjusting the chirp or using tunable dispersion compensation.
