Effects of Unisolated Optical Sources on Bidirectional SCM Transmission Systems

Abstract

We report on the performances of the bidirectional subcarrier-multiplexed transmission systems using unisolated optical sources. In particular, we have identified the dominant mechanisms of performance degradations for various system configurations using unisolated Fabry-Perot lasers or LED’s.
