Impact of electrostriction in single-channel 40Gbit/s undersea systems in the presence of dispersion-management or optical 3R regeneration

Abstract

We demonstrate that electrostriction-induced interaction is responsible for limitations in 40Gbit/s single-channel transmission systems performance even in the presence of dispersion-management and that periodic optical 3R regeneration totally suppresses the phenomenon.
