Abstract

Due to the ever increasing demand of bandwidth in telecommunication systems, the L-Band EDFA has been viewed as a natural extension of the C-Band EDFA in increasing the over all capacity of an optical network system. In the case of systems utilizing dispersion-shifted-fiber (DSF), the L-Band EDFA is an enabling technology to implement DWDM technologies.
