Abstract
The talk will discuss the role for opaque optical crossconnects in an optical network. Various electronic technologies and architectures for the design of these switching elements will be presented with an emphasis on multistage architectures. Finally a plan for “infinitely” scaling (beyond a Petabit/sec) the crossconnect will be presented.
