Abstract

Photonic packet switching technology still faces an enormous challenge in providing very low packet loss probability (<10−10 ) by using few optical buffers. It is already known that wavelength domain can be used to help reaching this performance target [1]. However, there is room for further improvements, in both single and multi-wavelength systems, by taking advantage of particularities in the flowing traffic.
