Abstract

SONET/SDH bi-directional line-switched rings (BLSRs) are often deployed in long haul backbone networks to provide protection against equipment failure and fiber cut. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology is used to increase fiber capacity to alleviate fiber exhaust [1].
