Effect of Spectral-Hole Burning on Multi-Channel EDFA Gain Profile

Abstract

In long-haul wavelength-division-multiplex (WDM) transmission systems, channel gains of an Er-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) must be equalized precisely because even a small gain tilt results in reduced signal bandwidth due to self-filtering effect.
