Abstract

Extending the transmission distance is the paramount issue for lightwave AM-VSB CATV transport systems. However, self-phase modulation (SPM) in such intensity-modulated systems causes frequency chirp, which in combination with chromatic dispersion can generate second- order distortion [1].
