Abstract

The recent explosion in demand for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) components and systems, driven by the insatiable appetite of the World Wide Web for bandwidth, has rekindled interest in all types of multiplexing and demultiplexing elements such as interference filters, waveguide gratings, and phased-array waveguides (phasars).
