Abstract

We constructed models of three real metropolitan local exchange carrier (LEC) LATA networks in the year 2000, and used these models, together with various cost and demand scenarios, to ascertain the relative economics of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) as compared to other high-speed transport techniques.
