Abstract

Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission technique is essential for realizing enormous capacity and flexible WDM networks. However, the transmission distance without regeneration is restricted by fiber nonlinearity and optical amplifier gain flatness. In this paper, we demonstrate 10-Gbit/s 10-channel transmission with 100-km dispersion-shifted fiber spacing by using spectrally flat gain erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs).
