Abstract

The Ti:LiNbO3 optical modulators are important components for high-speed optical communication systems. Several types of wide-band modulators, are reported,1-4 (with bandwidths around 20 GHz and driving voltages around 5 V), to reduce velocity mismatch and microwave attenuation. There is a further need to develop modulators, with bandwidths around 20 GHz (capable of operating at 20 Gbit/s or more) and driving voltages less than 3 V, in order to satisfy the needs of practical high-speed system.
