Abstract

Nonuniform-optical-fiber Bragg gratings (OFBGs), in which the refractive-index modulation depth Δn varies along the axial direction z, are important in applications such as dispersion compensation.1 We report determination of Δn(z) by measurement of the intensity of Bragg reflection of an external probe beam incident on the grating.
