Abstract
Optical-fiber Bragg gratings1 are expected to be important components in wavelength-division-multiplexed optical-communication systems. For this application, wavelength stability over the range of operating temperatures is vital. We present passive mounts that compensate the temperature dependence of the resonant wavelength λB by changing the strain in the fiber. The shift in λB over a 60°C range was reduced by a factor of 13, to only 0.04 nm.
