Abstract

Stable operation of two optoelectronic-integrated-circuit heterodyne receivers (OEICs) in an experimental system is reported. The OEICs are monolithically integrated on InP and include a tunable laser, a passive polarization-diversity circuit, and balanced photodiodes (see Fig. I).1,2 The local oscillators (LOs) on the chips are four-section DBR lasers with a gain section and a phase section between two Bragg sections.
