Abstract
Optical frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) is attractive because of increasing transmission capacity and flexibility of optical-network systems.1 Among optical multi/demultiplexers for FDM already reported,2,3 the arrayed-waveguide-grating type with a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) is the most attractive because it is possible to multi/demultiplex several optical signals at a time. Recently, arrayed-waveguide gratings with PLC on SiO2 have demonstrated low polarization sensitivity.2 However, the center-wavelength offset, which is caused by an inevitable small-process deviation, remains to be unsolved.
