Abstract
All-optical switches have been extensively studied for their potential applications in communication and optical computing. These devices usually consist of a waveguide interferometer with a pump applied to one of its arms to modify its refractive index through a third-order nonlinearity, causing switching of a signal (wavelength λs) at the interferometer output. Using a fiber as the waveguide guarantees low loss and a stable fused junction to trunk fibers and other components.
