Abstract

Single-frequency linear fiber lasers that use intracore Bragg reflectors for cavity feedback and mode selectivity are attractive for their engineering simplicity and convenient wavelength selectivity during manufacturing.1 Although low-bit-error-rate digital transmission has been achieved with these sources, noise bursts that inhibit the ability to achieve long-term, low-bit-error-rate digital transmission have been observed.2 This paper presents the operating characteristics of a linear, single-frequency, integrated master-oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) with active noise suppression.
