High-speed module for wavelength encoding in ATM optical switching

Abstract

In asynchronous-transfer-mode (ATM) optical switching, the exploitation of the wavelength domain is key for routing and multiplexing. In this paper we report on the design, realization, and test of a module especially developed for a wavelength encoder working at a 2.4-Gbit/s bit rate on a cell-by-cell basis.
