Equalization of fiber chromatic dispersion for very-high-bit-rate transmission by using monolithic microwave integrated circuits

Abstract

Advances in device technology for coherent systems have resulted in practical repeaterless long-haul multigigabit transmission over standard monomode fiber. However, even with the development of very-narrow-linewidth lasers, transmission over large fiber spans is impaired significantly by fiber chromatic dispersion, thus limiting the information capacity available on a single carrier.
