Abstract

A cascade of up to thirty-one demultiplexers for wavelength-division multiplexed communication is reported. The maximum crosstalk between adjacent and next-nearest channels is −27 and −30 dB, respectively. Each channel can support 275 Mbit/sec for a κ = 200 cm−1 and n = 3.5. Also, the characteristics of a single, cascadeable multiplexer are presented.
