Abstract

Many advances have been reported on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) recently. The vertical-cavity configuration offers numerous advantages including potentially very low threshold current1,2 and circular single-mode emission which leads to excellent coupling with a single-mode optical fiber.3
