Abstract

Development of 10-Gbit/s optical transmission systems is an urgent subject. Many experiments on 10-Gbit/s optical transmission have been performed.1,2 Utilization of the optical amplifier is a promising technique for extending the repeater spacing.2 Electrical devices have been developed using GaAs technology,3 and optical devices, laser diodes, and photo detectors have had their high frequency characteristics improved.4,5
