Abstract
Narrowband optical fibers only a few angstroms wide or less are important for various applications related to multichannel optical communication systems. Of special interest are wavelength-division multiplexing devices, elements for stabilizing semiconductor lasers at standard wavelengths, and optical feedback elements for external cavity lasers. In other cases, broadband Bragg reflectors are useful, serving, for example, as waveguide mirrors.
