Abstract
The Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) is the major annual North American Conference on the technology and use of optical communications via fiber. OFC '91 in San Diego, California is the fourteenth in a series of meetings that originated in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1975. This year the OFC conference is co-sponsored and organized by three societies: the Optical Society of America (OSA), the Lasers and Electro-Optics Society of the IEEE (LEOS), and, for the first time, the IEEE Communications Society (COMSOC). OFC '91 also includes three preconference workshops highlighting current issues: Fiber-To-The-Customer, FDDI Network Design and Application, and Integrated Circuits for Lightwave Communication.
