Abstract

Single-mode, single polarization (SP), optical fibers of the W-tunneling type have been previously reported.1 Unfortunately, the width of the SP band has been small, 5%, making mass production uneconomical. We report a similar fiber with a much larger SP width, 13%. Our explanation for this improvement points to a class of broadband polarizer.
