Abstract
The fabrication of monolithic wavelength-flattened 1×7 single-mode fused couplers was recently reported.1 These devices are low loss (<0.1 dB), stable, fiber compatible, and similar in size to standard 2×2 fused couplers. Coupling uniformity between the output ports is excellent at <1% standard deviation. We show that to produce a wavelength-flattened device having an equal split, it is necessary to control the degree of fusion of the structure.
