Analog video transport

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This tutorial focuses on the requirements and potentials of multichannel video transmission over optical fibers using analog modulation techniques. The trade-offs between AM and FM video transmission are discussed with a brief comparison with the digitized video approach. Key optoelectronic components required for high quality multichannel video transmission are identified. The limitations as well as achievable performance of analog video transmission are also addressed.
