Abstract

Recently a drastic improvement has been attained in the optical fiber amplifier system with a high speed direct detection technology. This progress can make it easy to extend the transmission distance without the coherent technology. However, the coherent technology still has attractive features especially in high capacity systems using multichannel FDM technology[1]. Considering the rapid requirement growth for handling large information capacity, more than 100 Gb/s transmission is attractive and a challenging target.
