Spectral behavior of untapered multifiber unions

Abstract

As shown in several previous papers, biconically tapered single-mode fibers allow a power transmission with a quasisinusoidal dependence on wavelength, elongation, and surrounding medium refractive index. These tapered fibers have particular advantages for sensor and wavelength filter applications.
