1-Gbit/s zero-IF DPSK coherent optical system using a single photodetector

Abstract

It has been shown theoretically1,2 that one can achieve zero-IF coherent detection of DPSK optical signals without the use of multiple receivers and special optical couplers by adding a periodic phase switching signal to the phase modulator drive.
