Abstract
The Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) is a proposed American National Standard tor a 100-Mb/s token ring using an optical fiber medium. Default values of timers have been chosen to provide for networks of 500 stations using 100 km of duplex fiber cable. The highly efficient ring topology and protocols chosen allow sustained data rates exceeding 10 Mbytes/s.
