Abstract

Two layers of UV curable resin have been coated simultaneously onto silica fiber using a pressurized die at a speed of 300 m/min. This offers not only good protection from deterioration of strength but also good cushioning. Using these fibers, a practical fiber ribbon has been developed with stable transmission performance over a wide temperature range.
