Progress in the PCVD process

Abstract

The inherent advantages of the low-temperature low-pressure PCVD process,1-4 i.e., high material efficiencies and a close approximation of desired profiles, initiated the remarkable development of this fiber fabrication method in the last 4 years. Concerning the optical properties and the productivity of PCVD, the following results have been achieved:
