Abstract

Pair splicers containing 40 multimode fibers (the MMF pair splicer) were reported at the 85 OFC.1 This paper describes an improved pair splicer for single-mode fiber (the SMF pair splicer) using the precision molding and cleaving technique. The structure of the SMF pair splicer is similar to that of the MMF splicer, which consists of two Insertion parts, each 2.499 mm in diameter.
