Abstract
Short-time joining operations in the field increase the efficiency of cable installation. To realize a short-time joining operation and reduce the length of the joined fiber portion, mass-connecting techniques for optical fibers have been studied.1 However, as the mass-connecting fiber number increases, the more difficult is highly accurate connector molding and machining. This paper describes a new connection method consisting of a single pair of multiple fiber units, a so-called pair splicer.
