150-km 296-Mbit/sec dispersion-shifted fiber system experiment

Abstract

We report on a system demonstration that features 150 km of dispersion-shifted depressed-clad triangular-profile (DDT) single-mode fiber, two long-wavelength lasers in transmitter packages, a 2 × 1 passive transmitter sparing device, and a Si IC receiver with an InGaAsP avalanche photodiode detector. A block diagram of the experiment is shown in Fig. 1.
