Abstract

A number of empirical rules have been proposed to allow the prediction of pulse broadening (PB) or bandwidth (BW) for concatenated fiber links based on data from individual fibers.1 Table I summarizes the formulas that were used in this study. Note that the g parameter for the BW is analogous to the well-known γ parameter,2 except that the q parameter Is fitted taking into account all the measured points within the link rather than just the end value.
