Abstract

TE/TM mode splitters are a basic component used in guided-wave optics, and several kinds have been proposed.1,2 When we studied the basic properties of intersecting straight waveguides, we found that they were capable of performing TE/TM mode splitting. The principle and configuration of the splitter are very simple.
