Abstract

Previous studies^1-3 on germania silicate glasses using UV absorption spectroscopy have been reported. Here attempts are made to characterize the UV spectra of various types of germania silicate preform made by the MCVD process. Moreover, the formation of the absorbers is investigated with respect to processing conditions.
