Photonic Integrated Circuits for Beamforming in 5G Wireless Communications

Abstract

We demonstrate the high performance of a photonic beam-forming network based on packaged integrated photonic circuits emulating a 4-element phased-array antenna. The experimental results show wide and linear phase shift above 360° and ultrafast reconfiguration.
