Plasmonic Resonance modes in metallic spherical voids: Transformation and Sensitivity Analysis

Abstract

The property of surface resonance mode existing in the structure of sliver surfaces patterned with periodic spherical nanocavities is investigated. The angle-resolved reflection spectra and the spatial distribution of electric field both show that the surface mode transforms from the propagating surface plasmons to the localized surface plasmons with the depth of spherical voids increasing. As a result, the sensitivity to the environment is strongly modified.
